Long Term Financial Goal Progress for November 2022

Above is the progress of me reaching my targeted financial goals for November 2022. The total value of my financial assets improved from 59.41% to 61.06%. The main reason for the increase was due to the slight recovery of my stock portfolio after stocks crashed in the month of October.

If you wonder how I compute the total value of my financial assets, they are:

Insurance Savings

Insurance

In this section, let me share on the savings I have related to insurance.

I have money stashed away with Singlife and Dash EasyEarn. These are alternative to traditional savings accounts whereby they offer higher interest rates as compared to traditional bank savings accounts.

Dash EasyEarn offers 1.2% per annum but they have offered existing holders an additional 1.8% per annum. This adds up to 3.0% per annum.

In November, I have partially withdraw my money in Dash EasyEarn and bought Singapore Savings Bonds (SBDEC22 GX22120S) given the returns are better.

I still have some money parked in Singlife account. From 1st October 2022 onwards, Singlife had increase their crediting rate from 1.0% p.a. to 1.5% p.a.

Savings accounts (POSB, OCBC, CIMB)

Financial Goals Progress September 2022

I already had 2 tranches of fixed deposit placement with CIMB. Thus, I have refrain from doing more fixed deposit placement despite the high interest rates promotions.

Singapore Savings Bonds

Singapore Saving Bonds continue to be an almost risk free investment. The effective interest rate for SBDEC22 is 3.47% p.a. over a 10 years period.

Readers who wanted safe haven or place for emergency funds should consider Singapore Savings Bond.

The good thing about Singapore Savings Bond is that you can redeem them anytime because there is no lock in period.

In November, I have collected the following interest payout from the Singapore Savings Bonds that I have bought every month over the years.

  • November 2018 (GX18110Z)
  • May 2018 (GX18050E)
  • May 2019 (GX19050A)

I written 2 guides on Singapore Savings Bonds. Do check them out!

My Stock Portfolio and Dividend Payout

I use Stocks Café to keep track of the total value worth of my stocks. Stocks Café is my preferred tool for managing my stock portfolio. It is packed with tonnes of intelligent features such as portfolio monitoring and reporting, dividend tracking, stock screening. All these features are automated which means no manual entry is required.

This month, there are no changes to my stock portfolio as I refrain from making any purchases.

In terms of dividends, I have collected the dividend payout from SPH REIT.

I believe you have read about Amazon planning job cuts. Technology stocks continue their sell down. I will wait a while more for prices to become more attractive before increasing my stake in Amazon and Microsoft.

Auto Investing with Syfe

I withdrew all my money in Syfe. Under current market conditions, I can easily get better returns with Singapore Savings Bond, Treasury Bills or Fixed Deposits.

Summary of Financial Goals Progress November 2022

One more month before we reach the end of the year! Are you on target to reach your financial goals?

Most people looked at how much cash they have now but neglected to save for their retirement. One way to save for retirement is to start contributing to your Supplementary Retirement Scheme (SRS) account. As shared previously, I am on track to maximize my contribution to my SRS account in 2022. There are many benefits to do so.

As most of us plan to go for our long awaited short breaks or vacation in December, the stock market probably will be quieter than usual.

By the way, is the Fed planning for any interest rate hikes in December?
