Above is the progress of me reaching my targeted financial goals for February 2022. The total value of my financial assets continue to decline from 58.25% to 58.17%. The main reason for the decline was due to the decrease in value of my stock portfolio. This was despite I had more cash on hand due to dividends paid out in February.
The total value of my financial assets comprised of the following:
- Insurance savings (NTUC RevoSave, Singlife, Dash EasyEarn, Dash PET)
- Savings accounts (POSB, OCBC, CIMB)
- Singapore Savings Bonds
- Current value of my stocks
- Auto Investing (Syfe)
- Supplementary Retirement Scheme
Earlier this month, tech stocks listed on the US stock exchange crashed (E.g. Meituan) or continued to decline. Somehow, the Singapore stock market seem to react to US stock market and certain stock prices followed the decline.
The start of the Russia and Ukraine last week threw global stock markets into volatility. Stock prices plunge on the day war was declared but recovered quickly the next day when US President announced measures to punish Russia. Honestly, I could not predict whether stock markets will crash next or continue its recovery.
Insurance Savings
There is nothing much to update for Singlife, DashEasyEarn and Dash PET. I believe you already heard of these accounts whereby they are alternative to traditional savings accounts.
You just deposit money and watch them grow effortlessly. I have reached the maximum allowed amount of S$20,000 in Dash EasyEarn which is giving me a return of 1.2% per annum.
Dash PET is also giving me 1.70% p.a. for the first S$10,000. The crediting rate for any amount above S$10,000 is 1.20%.
Singlife return is lower at 1% p.a. for the first S$10,000.
Singapore Savings Bonds
Singapore Saving Bonds continue to be an almost risk free investment.
In February , I have collected the following interest payout from the Singapore Savings Bonds that I have bought every month over the years.
- February 2020 (GX20020V)
- August 2019 (GX19080E)
- February 2019 (GX19020V)
- August 2018 (GX18080F)
The effective interest rate of this month’s issue of Singapore Savings Bond (SBMAR22) is giving 1.79% per annum. Readers who wanted safe haven or place for emergency funds should consider.
My Stock Portfolio
I use Stocks Café to keep track of the total value worth of my stocks.
My stock portfolio remained unchanged from January as I am still waiting for opportunities in the current volatility.
Stocks that I eyeing for are Delfi Limited, Mapletree Logistics Trust and perhaps US Manulife REIT.
Recently, Sheng Siong caught my attention as it announced its FY2021 financial results.
Auto Investing with Syfe
Syfe continue to perform poorly with a time weighted return of (1.13)%.
If you want to know more, the Capital Growth portfolio comprises of 68.3% equity, 25.4% Bond, 5.5% Commodity and 0.8% cash.
Dividends
This month, I received the advance distribution from US Manulife REIT.
Summary of Financial Goals Progress February 2022
The Russia and Ukraine was came unexpected and it is too early to tell if this will impact the global financial markets.
As a strong believer of dividend investing, I shall continue to invest in dividend paying stocks which can provide me with a return of 4% yield or more.
I hope to grow the total value of my stock portfolio further and I believe the total value of my stock portfolio will jump significantly when the bull comes!
Hi, mind to share the magic number that you wish to achieve for financial goals? And after you achieved the financial goals, what’s your expected dividend/yield rate on your portfolio that could cover the monthly expenses?
