UOB Stash Account lets you earn up to 5 percent per annum. Like the name “Stash” implies, UOB Stash Account is a simple savings account where you stash your money to earn interests when you maintain or increase your monthly average balance.
Youths and students from 15 years old can also apply for this account.
Some quick benefits of UOB Stash Account are:
- Park your money aside or save consistently every month and earn up to S$3000 in interest a year. You can continue to spend or transact with your Stash Account as you can still earn bonus interest as long as you maintain or increase your balance.
- There is no lock-in period.
- Receive a UOB One Debit Mastercard when you sign up for a Stash Account. Use it for all your shopping needs and get up to 10% cashback on online shopping, groceries, transport, and more.
How UOB Stash Account Works
The base interest of the UOB Stash Account is actually 0.05% per annum. You will always earn this interest, regardless of what you deposit into your account.
Maintain or increase your Monthly Average Balance (MAB), as compared to the previous month to earn up to 4.95% per annum.
UOB Stash Account Interest Rate
Here’s how your bonus interest will add up.
Monthly Average Balance | Base interest (p.a.) | Bonus interest (p.a.) | Total interest (p.a.) |
First S$10,000 | 0.05% | 0.00% | 0.05% |
Next S$30,000 | 0.05% | 1.95% | 2.00% |
Next S$30,000 | 0.05% | 2.95% | 3.00% |
Next S$30,000 | 0.05% | 4.95% | 5.00% |
Above S$100,000 | 0.05% | 0.00% | 0.05% |
S$100K seems to be the sweet spot because any amount above this will only give you 0.05% per annum.
How Much Interest Will S$100K Earn You?
If the above table looks complicated to you, do not worry. UOB has a calculator that can be found at their UOB Stash Account website that helps you estimate the interest that you will earn.
As you can see below, I entered S$100K as the monthly average balance from May to December. Based on the calculator, the total interest I will earn is S$2,016.99.
My Opinion of UOB Stash Account
In my opinion, 5% per annum is really attractive and UOB Stash Account is really a simple, no frills savings account. Having said that, this account is not for low ballers because any deposit amount below S$30,000 only give you 0.05% p.a. according to the interest rate table shared above.
To earn that 5% p.a., you need to deposit S$100K and maintain this amount throughout.
If you have S$100K, forget about fixed deposits and go for UOB Stash Account instead because I am sure no fixed deposit account can offer you 5% per annum currently.
Where should your Dad put his S$100K? Previously OCBC but now I prefer UOB Stash Account.
I used the illustrator and put 100k, it shows only $3060 interest earned after 1 year. Not sure if it’s a bug or I’m doing something wrong.
I think its 5% for UOB One account where you are required to credit your salary and bill at least $500 monthly in card spend. And 3% on next 100k in Stash account.
