Long Term Financial Goal Progress for March 2022

Above is the progress of me reaching my targeted financial goals for March 2022. The total value of my financial assets improve from 58.17% to 60.56%. The main reason for the improvement was due to the increase in value of my stock portfolio due to the strong recovery of stocks.

The total value of my financial assets comprised of the following:

After last month’s crash, tech stocks listed on the US stock exchange started their recovery. The Singapore stock market follow suite.

At the point of writing, the Russia and Ukraine war is on the 34th day. As shared previously, stock prices plunge on the day war was declared but recovered quickly the next day when US President announced measures to punish Russia.

Insurance Savings

There is nothing much to update for Singlife, DashEasyEarn and Dash PET. I believe you already heard of these accounts whereby they are alternative to traditional savings accounts.

You just deposit money and watch them grow effortlessly. I have reached the maximum allowed amount of S$20,000 in Dash EasyEarn which is giving me a return of 1.2% per annum.

Dash PET is also giving me 1.70% p.a. for the first S$10,000. The crediting rate for any amount above S$10,000 is 1.20%.

Singlife return is lower at 1% p.a. for the first S$10,000.

Singapore Savings Bonds

Singapore Saving Bonds continue to be an almost risk free investment.

In March, I have collected the following interest payout from the Singapore Savings Bonds that I have bought every month over the years.

  • September 2019 (GX19090H)
  • March 2019 (GX19030Z)

  • September 2017 (GX17090X)

The effective interest rate of this month’s issue of Singapore Savings Bond (SBAPR22) is giving 1.91% per annum. Readers who wanted safe haven or place for emergency funds should consider.

Summary of Financial Goals Progress March 2022

This month, I have less spare cash to invest as I need to pay for my car insurance renewal, road taxes. I refrain from driving too much as the price of petrol was horrendous due to the Ukraine and Russia war which drove oil prices sky high.

Let us hope the stock market remains weak so that I can accumulate more of my favourite stocks!
