This is the first month of the year 2025 and I am going to report my Financial Goals Progress for January 2025. Do you know what are financial goals? Financial goals are objectives that I have set in order to achieve financial success. Setting financial goals is important as it provides direction and motivation for managing money effectively.
By establishing clear financial goals, I can track my progress, make informed decisions, and work towards achieving financial stability and security. My financial goal to stash sufficient money (target) which can help me to retire early in Singapore.
The total value of my financial assets is based on insurance savings, savings accounts (POSB, OCBC, CIMB, UOB), Fixed Deposits, Singapore Savings Bonds, Singapore Treasury Bills, current value of my stocks, and funds in Supplementary Retirement Scheme account.
Updates to My Savings Account
If you noticed, I added UOB to one of my savings accounts. If you have been following my blog, I have recently opened a UOB Stash Account. A few tranches of my fixed deposits are maturing in January, and I have been proactively transferring the principal and interests collected into UOB Stash. The interest rates offered by fixed deposits had fallen and thus I am parking my money into UOB Stash as the interests offered are higher if you have 100K.
Updates to My Stock Portfolio
In January, the United States had a new president. Under this era, I believe investors like me will be expecting tremendous volatility in the stock market. As such, I have refrained from making any new buy transactions until there is further clarity on the economic policies and tariffs imposed on other countries. As I had some spare cash on hand, I bought some SGS T Bills (Singapore Treasury Bills). Currently, Singapore T Bills just make up 1.39% in terms of my total investments.
Just earlier this week, a new AI (Artificial intelligence) application, “DeepSeek” shocked the stock market. NVIDIA which I held in my US stock portfolio fell almost 16% within a day. Having said that, I am still surprised the total value of my stock investments (Singapore and United States) continued to grow. This is probably the beauty of not putting all the eggs in one basket.
Today is the third day of the Chinese New Year. I take this opportunity to wish my readers a prosperous 2025 in the year of the snake!
